Open-Source Contributor Volunteer
Cat-a-lot Gadget · Wikimedia Commons
- Improved the Cat-a-lot JavaScript gadget, a widely-used tool on Wikimedia Commons for bulk photo categorisation
- Investigated and fixed a critical bug where selecting a protected file caused the in-progress dialog to hang indefinitely
- Enhanced error handling with callbacks and created user-friendly dialogs (Ignore & continue / Stop editing)
- Added dark mode support and modularised the error display logic for improved maintainability
- Fix was reviewed and merged into the production version used by thousands of editors
Software Engineer Mentor
Wikimedia Foundation
- Mentoring Outreachy interns on rewriting PendingChangesBot from PHP to Python
- Providing technical guidance on PHP → Python codebase migration with improved structure, maintainability, and performance
- Supporting interns in understanding Wikimedia's open-source development workflows including code reviews, documentation, and collaboration tools
- Guiding best practices in Python development, software design, and testing in a real-world production environment
- Facilitating intern engagement with the Wikimedia developer community, contributing to content moderation and quality control tools
Outreachy Intern Internship

- Contributed to the MediaWiki project, focusing on Enhancing VisualData's JSON-Schema in MediaWiki
- Implemented features and resolved issues by collaborating with open-source contributors, mentors, and project maintainers
- Gained hands-on experience with JSON, PHP, JavaScript, MediaWiki, Git/GitHub, and APIs
- Produced clean, documented code and actively participated in code reviews, project discussions, and community meetings
- Continued as a volunteer post-internship, maintaining and enhancing the extension through code, feedback, and pull requests

- Collaborated with the OCaml development team as an Outreachy applicant
- Completed a selected task to rearrange footer links in
footer.eml, improving navigation and user experience - Successfully reorganized links according to specified guidelines, ensuring seamless integration with the existing website design
- Actively participated in team discussions, adhered to project standards, and contributed to continuous improvement efforts
Junior Frontend Developer

- Built and shipped multiple UI components for Ribes Page, a Nigerian-built professional platform, including an About component, Overview section, Hire Me modal, Resend Email modal, and Uploads component
- Implemented fully responsive layouts across all components, ensuring consistent experience on both mobile and desktop viewports
- Worked within a structured Git workflow — branching per feature, raising PRs, and merging into the develop branch
- Collaborated with the core engineering team on a production-bound codebase before the startup wound down
